EX ORIENTE FILM - AUTORSKIE FILMY DOKUMENTALNE
Roczne profesjonalne szkolenie skierowane do reżyserów oraz producentów z Europy środkowej i wschodniej, które wspiera dofinansowanie autorskich filmów dokumentalnych. W trakcie szkolenia uczestnicy wspierani będą przez doświadczonych europejskich producentów, instruktorów, ekspertów branży audiowizualnej, redaktorów zamawiających. Poza przekazem praktycznych oraz indywidualnymi konsultacjami, warsztaty obejmować będą również wykłady przekazujące podstawową wiedzę na temat europejskiego rynku audiowizualnego (aspekty prawne i ekonomiczne)oraz informacje jak na obecnym rynku europejskim funkcjonują i działają niezależne firmy produkcji filmowej.
Grupa docelowa: profesjonaliści z sektora filmów dokumentalnych, którzy chcieliby wyjść poza ograniczony lokalny rynek i rozpocząć realizację projektów przeznaczonych na rynki międzynarodowe.
TERMIN SKŁADANIA APLIKACJI: 1 LUTY 2010
Uczestnicy programu będą też mieli szansę przedstawić swój projekt w czasie East European Forum, spotkania z nadawcami telewizyjnymi z Europy Zachodniej i Ameryki.

EX ORIENTE FILM STEP BY STEP
1st Session: “Find Your Way”
Location: Prague, Czech Republic
Dates: March 23 - 28, 2010
The first session of the workshop deals with inspiration. Participants work mainly on the processing and development of the documentary project by focusing the story of the film and its protagonists, analyzing stronger and weaker points of the project and its international dimension, constructing a basic concept for the strategy of the film’s production and financing, employing the system of European funding, grants and broadcasters. Projects as well as negotiation and communication skills are developed in group sessions and one-on-one meetings, while particpants also receive feedback from commissioning editors and Europe's leading filmmakers. After the 1st session, every project gets its own tutor, a “guardian angel”, who supervises the project over the following months, offers assistance with a professionally prepared ”film pack” and trailer, consultation on the financing strategy of the project, and also provides the producer with useful contacts.
2nd Session: “Production Development”
Location: A selected capital in Central/Eastern Europe, TBC
Dates: June 2010
The second session deals with financing, budgeting according to EU standards, legal aspects of co-production, strategies for selecting commissioning editors and an appropriate television format, as well as a deeper creative development of the film projects. Directors and producers take part in separate parallel programmes in which they improve different aspects of the projects – directors should clarify the story and the protagonists, strengthen the international dimension of the story and finalize their trailers, while producers should prepare their individual plans for film financing, and consult their detailed budgets and financing sources (TV and non-TV funding overview). The second session includes the following key subjects: “A Day of Budgeting”, “A Day of Legal Aspects” ,“A Day of Financial Tour”.
3rd Session: “The Market Opens”
Location: Jihlava, Czech Republic
Dates: October 2010
The third session deals mainly with practical skills that are required for the presentation of the project and pitching. However, its main theoretical themes are distribution plan and sales, post-pitching negotiation techniques for documentaries, as well as communication strategies to get European broadcasters involved in the project. The theoretical parts of this workshop discuss specific examples of international co-production using case studies presented by commissioning editors, producers and distributors. The session is concluded with the East European Pitching Forum and follow-up meetings with selected tutors.
